“And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.”
Meaning of Genesis 39:2
Genesis 39:2 reveals one of the greatest secrets to success and victory in life — the presence of God. Joseph was not prosperous because of his location, background, or circumstances. In fact, he was a slave in a foreign land. Yet, despite the hardship, betrayal, and pain he faced, God’s presence distinguished him.
This verse teaches us that true prosperity begins with God being with you. When God is with a person, favour appears in difficult places, doors open unexpectedly, and strength is released during seasons of pressure.
Joseph’s life reminds believers that challenges cannot stop God’s plan. Even in an uncomfortable season, God can still cause you to flourish. Your environment does not determine your destiny — God’s presence does.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your presence in my life. Just as You were with Joseph, be with me in every area of my journey. Let Your favour speak for me in places where men least expect me to succeed. Strengthen me during difficult seasons and help me remain faithful, diligent, and obedient to You. Turn every challenge around for my good and make me prosperous in purpose, peace, and destiny. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
